Terms of Use

These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of this website. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

1. Use of the Site

This site provides crossword and puzzle answers and hints for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to misuse the site. That includes scraping or copying content in bulk, interfering with how the site works, or using it for anything unlawful.

2. Content and Trademarks

The original content on this site belongs to us. Puzzle names, trademarks and other copyrighted material belong to their respective owners. We are not affiliated with The New York Times Company.

3. No Guarantees

We try to keep answers accurate and the site available, but we provide everything “as is,” without guarantees of any kind.

4. Disputes

If you have a problem with this site, please email us first at complaints@nytcrossword.org. Include your name, contact details, what happened, and what you’d like us to do. We’ll try to resolve it informally within 30 days.

If we can’t, either of us may take the dispute to binding individual arbitration through JAMS, under its Streamlined Rules for claims under $250,000 and its Comprehensive Rules otherwise. You can still use small claims court for qualifying claims, and either side can go to court over intellectual property misuse. Arbitration can take place remotely, in writing, or in person at a location we agree on. If you can’t afford the arbitration fees and JAMS won’t waive them, we’ll cover them.

Claims must be brought individually, not as part of a class action. Any claim must be started within one year of the dispute arising. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Future changes to this section won’t affect a claim you’ve already notified us about. This section is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.

5. Your Data

Using this site means you agree to the data collection described in our Privacy Policy, mainly for advertising. You can opt out at any time using the links in the Privacy Policy or on the site.

6. Limits on Our Liability

To the extent the law allows, we and our vendors aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses from using the site, or from being unable to use it. This includes lost data or profits. Our total liability is capped at $100 or the amount you’ve paid us in the past six months, whichever is greater.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the new terms.
